On behalf of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, we are deeply saddened to announce the death of Deputy Daniel Okamoto. Daniel was tragically killed in an off-duty traffic collision in the early morning hours on Friday, April 12, 2024.

Daniel joined the Department in 2017 and dedicated himself to serving the communities of Lomita, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and San Pedro. He was known for his professionalism, humility, and unwavering commitment to his friends and colleagues. Daniel is survived by his grandmother, parents, and brother. Our LASD family is mourning his loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and partners during this difficult time. May Daniel rest in peace. Daniel was a Training Officer at Lomita Station.

Daniel is the son of Retired LASD Deputy Geody Okamoto and his wife Lynn. Geody is a Firestone Alumnus.
