A Deputy  from Cerritos Station, Luke Liu, was involved in a 998 almost 4 years ago. He was cleared by homicide who subsequently took the case to the D.A. for a formal reject of any charges. Initially, no charges were filed, but Luke worked the desk for 3 years while the D.A.’s office left the case in limbo. After the election, the D.A., Jackie Lacey, decided to file charges of voluntary manslaughter against Luke. He was released on $1.5 million bond. Subsequently, he was relieved of duty without pay and is not able to work full time. He has a part-time job which doesn’t cover his day to day living.  Sheriff Villanueva has given the nod to allow fund raising for Luke, since he has not been convicted of any crime.  His jury trial may begin in early 2020.

The Cerritos Station is hosting a Fundraiser BBQ on Wednesday, July 24th, on the front quad of Cerritos Station along with an opportunity drawing for a SAMSUNG 55-INCH, 4K, SMART TV  in support of raising funds for “Team Cerritos”. This is a program where Cerritos Sheriff’s Station personnel raise funds to help support families of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and law enforcement families who are in need.

Tickets are available now. Suggested donation of $5.00 per ticket OR 5 tickets for $20.00*. Write your name and telephone number on the back of the ticket and return to one of the below listed persons. You can return your tickets in person, by mail OR if you attend the BBQ you can return your tickets at that time.

The drawing will be held on Wednesday, July 24th at the BBQ. The winner need not be present and will be notified by telephone or text.
