The PDC (Wayside) Range will be open for HR-218 qualification on the following dates for May 2025. Additionally, regular Biannual Department qualifications will be conducted on the same dates at the same location:

Saturday – May 24th
Sunday – May 25th

There are also two remaining dates in April: Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th.

The hours are 0800 -1200 hours, Rain or Shine. There is no need to call ahead or make an appointment.

Please be sure your weapon(s) are unloaded and secured in a case until you are on the line and you are given instructions by a Weapons Training Deputy. If you are carrying the weapon on your person, please keep it holstered until given directions.

Reminder: Your credentials must be up-to-date in order for you to qualify. If you need to renew your credentials contact Employee Services at (323) 526-5500. If you wish to renew by mail contact Employee Services at this same number and explain what you wish to do. They will give directions on how to proceed.

HR-218 provides that honorably retired peace officers may carry any type of handgun that they have qualified with, revolver, autoloader or derringer. You must qualify with each type of weapon that you intend to carry.

Please be aware that proper footwear is required at all Sheriff’s Ranges. No sandals or open-toed shoes.
