Remembering Bill McSweeney (1951–2025)

The SRA mourns the passing of General Manager and retired LASD Chief Bill McSweeney. He honorably served with the LASD for 41 years, retiring in 2015 as chief of the Training Division, Homeland Security Division and Detective Division, and as the Department’s most senior active member. That same year, he continued his service to the men and women of the Department when he was appointed SRA’s general manager and executive director of its charitable foundation. His unwavering dedication to the LASD and to its sworn, civilian, active and retired members will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
